Besides being a well known tax free haven (there are over 500 banks here) there is plenty to see and do at the Cayman Islands. The most populated is the Grand Cayman, famed for its “Seven Mile Beach” – its only about 5.5 miles in reality, go figure. There is also Little Cayman and a few others where you will find more solitude and probably better diving etc. We only explored Grand Cayman and decided to visit stingray sandbar for an afternoon of swimming with the rays! Here are some pics i took with my underwater camera. They turned out great, the water was so clear!
The ray’s skin was rubbery but squishy!

This is the sandbar. As you might expect, every man and his dog was there too but at least it was amusing watching a few screaming girls as the rays charged toward them to get fed.
We then went to Tiki which is a hotel on seven mile beach. It was all very touristy around here, and very expensive. After a USD$9 local beer and a swim, our day at the Cayman Islands was done. Here’s a pic of the beach, and the port.

As nice as it was Cayman was a bit too built up and expensive for my liking. That being said the Little Cayman island is supposed to be more secluded, and the diving is excellent there. This was the last stop off for the cruise, with another day spent at sea. We just ate plenty of food, and enjoyed the entertainment before arriving back in Miami.
Next stop Cancun, Mexico!!

How expensive was it?
